Kaiul sat back in his executive chair, silent for a long moment. His usually cheerful expression was gone, and his hands were shaking.

“This couldn't have waited until I got home?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Kaiul, I'm sorry. I just...I wanted you to hear it from me. No one else, just me.”

“Who is he?”

“That part I don't know, but he's younger.”

“How do you know?”

“I...over heard him talking on the phone to her...I wasn't paying any attention until I heard him say her name. I don't know...it might be nothing.”

“Yeah, but it might be something. Where did you see this guy?”

“I was at Waffle House, grabbing a quick bite before work. He was sitting in the booth behind me. When I turned around, I saw the back of his head, and that's it. Oh, he had a little kid with him. A boy.”

“What exactly did you hear him say to her?”

“He was mumbling so I didn't hear everything, but I'm 100% sure I heard him say her name.”

“I'll kill him if he's touched her in any way that only I should.”

Presley shook her head slowly as she stared at her older brother, his face full of anguish.

“Bro, let me talk to her first. I would hate for you to bring this to her and it could be nothing. Just...promise me you'll let me find out more before you say anything.”

Kaiul sighed, long and deep, before responding.

“I'll give you until tomorrow. I can't bear to look at her right now without knowing what's going on. I'll call her on my lunch and make up some lie about an overnight business trip or something. Talk to her, Pres. Find out who this guy is.”

After Presley left, Kaiul was unable to focus on anything but Italy. He stared at the picture of her and Kailani he kept on his desk, wondering if the woman of his dreams was actually capable of hurting him this badly. He thought about how she'd asked for a divorce, how she'd left him, and how she'd come back to him as if nothing had happened. Through all that, it had never crossed his mind that she could've been with another man, when she'd left him or at any point since the day they'd met. Even with all of the troubling thoughts going through his mind, Kaiul couldn't help but to smile when he thought back to the first day he laid eyes on Italy Rose.

He was sponsoring an event for the local animal shelter. It was an annual charity event that helped homeless pets find good homes. The sun was shining and the park was full of locals, their pets, and journalists alike; everyone knew that when Kaiul Rose sponsored an event, it was sure to be both fun and successful.

Dressed in cream linen slacks and a navy blue polo shirt, he looked like the million dollars he'd spent out of his own pocket to sponsor the event. After giving his speech and thanking everyone for coming
